LONDON – The Manchester United women achieved their first victory at Old Trafford this Saturday with the Spanish Ona Batlle as the starter.
The Manchester Set defeated West Ham United 2-0 with goals from Lauren James and Christen Press in the second part.
Batlle, a regular in the calls of the Spanish team, played 74 minutes before being substituted.
It was the first match in the history of Manchester United for women to be played at the legendary Old Trafford stadium.
Casey Stoney, coach of the ‘Diablas Rojas’, described the event as “a unique opportunity” to give visibility to women’s football.
With this triumph the Manchester United consolidates in third place, four points behind Manchester City, which is second.
