The next May 1 will remain in the history of rugby in New Zealand. The Blues and Chiefs women’s teams will play the first women’s match in Super Rugby history and they will do it nothing more and nothing less than in Eden Park.
“We are very excited about the match. It is something that both clubs have been talking about for a while. We are focused on developing the women’s program in the future and we see this as a huge opportunity to start that dream,” said the Blues CEO Andrew Hore.
For its part, Michael Collins, Chiefs CEOShe said: “Women’s rugby in New Zealand is exceptionally strong and growing exponentially. We see Super Women’s Rugby as the next step and we feel we must come together to provide this opportunity for all women who play this sport in our region.”
