Third defeat in history and end of a streak: North Macedonia and its feat against Germany

North Macedonia defeated Germany 2-1 as a visitor on the third date of the European Qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup 2022 and made history with a huge hit.

It is Germany’s third defeat in almost ninety years of World Cup Qualifiers. The Teutonic team, quadruple world champions, had only lost twice in the qualifying phase, both at home: en route to Mexico 1986 against Portugal 2-1 and in Korea-Japan 2002 against England, the remembered 1-5.

Germany, which was eliminated for the first time since 1938 in the group stage of a World Cup in 2018, again suffered a hard and unexpected blow.

The 2014 champions had won the last 18 Playoff matches, an extraordinary brand that ended in a totally unexpected way.

North Macedonia, which will play Euro 2020 in June, achieved the best victory in its history and continues its evolution. It is in the same vein as Germany in the group and three points behind Armenia, the surprising leader.
