Scheduled for February, the tournament was initially postponed but with no date set by the circuit. A clearer scenario was expected in relation to the control of the pandemic in the coming months, which would allow the definition and approval of a new date, still in 2021.
Today with the unclear scenario, the next edition of the tournament will be held in February 2022, at the Jockey Club Brasileiro. “The cancellation of the 2021 edition of the Rio Open is a demonstration of the respect we have for our public and for Rio de Janeiro,” said the organization.
“We fought to the end to be able to hold the event in 2021 but unfortunately it was not possible. By the time we announce the non-performance, we have already started working to deliver an even more special edition ”, Luiz Carvalho, tournament director, closed.
