For the fifth day of the American Rugby Super League, Selknam faced Cobras XV. The Chileans, on the previous date, came from falling to Jaguares XV and were looking to recover, while the Brazilian team had just added their first victory in the tournament against Cafeteros Pro and wanted to continue on the path of victory.
From the beginning, he looked superior to Selknam, who came out determined to take the meeting. So much so, that for the first 20 minutes, he was already ahead by 17 to 3. From there, he completely dominated the Brazilians and went into halftime with six wins under his belt and a 38-3 lead. The tries were by Ignacio Albornoz, Patricio Baronio, Santiago Portillo, Lucca Avelli, Domingo and Clemente Saavedra, four of them converted by Santiago Videla. The three Cobras XV units arrived from the feet of Joshua Brian Reeves.
In addition, the superiority of the Chileans remained in force and the local team took over the match even more, scoring only one try, at the hands of Baronio, converted by Videla. In the middle of the second half, Cobras XV seemed to awaken with the conquest of Franco Giudice – converted by Da Silva Santos. However, Selknam returned to the game and sentenced the win with three more arrivals at the ingoal: Rodrigo Fernández, Bautista Staville and Albornoz supported, for his part, Videla added all the conversions and decreed the final 66 to 10.
This way, both closed their participation in the first stage, disputed in Chile. And they will be back in action on April 11, when the tournament is played in Uruguay. In the case of Selknam, their match will be against Cafeteros. While Cobras XV will be measured against Jaguares XV.
