Cotto is the only Puerto Rican to win championships in four different divisions and he last fought in December 2017, when he was defeated by Saddam Alli in New York.
In his past with Mexican fighters, his clashes against Antonio Margarito placeholder image (he won one and lost another) and his fight with Saul Alvarez (defeat) in the final stretch of his career.
On the other hand, Marquez will return seven years after his retirement, when he faced Mike alvarado in Inglewood, California. His career was marked by three fights with Manny pacquiao, of which he could take the last one in 2012 with a knockout that many place as the best of his career.
Despite their years in boxing, they could never face each other and the two were among the most important victims of Pacquiao in his outstanding welterweight career.
Both boxers join the list of former figures who have come out of retirement in the last two years to carry out exhibition bouts, such as Mike tyson and Oscar de la hoya.
