After the announcement of the National Government’s measures, the URBA decided to postpone the start of the First A, B, C and Second Division tournaments, and issued a statement regarding this situation.
The full statement:
The Rugby Union of Buenos Aires, in response to the latest news regarding the advance of the COVID 19 Pandemic and awaiting the publication of the regulations that the national and provincial authorities will issue in the coming hours, has resolved to postpone the start of tournaments scheduled for 4/10/21.
The postponement approved by the Board of Directors, beyond the analysis of the scope of the resolutions that are issued (national and provincial), is fundamentally taken to responsibly accompany the care and prevention measures that the current health situation obliges us to assume as part of the society.
We know that our clubs have been working tirelessly for the return to the game.- Today, happily, our rugby was played again, the players returned to the clubs and friendly matches began and although, at the time of this communication, there is no prohibition for play, the current situation of the Pandemic forces us to follow all health care measures and not lose what has been achieved to date.
We are convinced that this postponement is only momentary, the fixture already foresaw this possibility and therefore, the postponement that we report, is taken without losing sight of our original objective: to carry out our tournaments again in a framework of security and responsibility in the beware of all who participate in it.
Even being an outdoor amateur sport complying with strict protocols, the URBA will be issuing new precise directives to be able to start the tournaments, taking extreme measures that will be needed to comply with the requirements issued by the health authorities.
To date our sport is active and with the possibility of official competition in conditions to start, based on this we invite the clubs to maintain the activities within the framework of the protocols in force with the fulfillment of the measures already informed.
