(EFE) .- Bayern did not go beyond a 1-1 home draw against Unión Berlin today while their closest pursuer, RB Leipzig, beat Werder Bremen 1-4 and reduced the difference to 5 points.
Eintracht Frankfurt, for their part, defeated Wolfsburg 4-3, reaffirming their path to qualification for the Champions League.
Bayern came out today with an atypical line-up, partly due to penalties and injuries and partly because coach Hansi Flick already had an eye on the return leg in the Champions League quarter-finals against PSG.
The line of four, made up of Bouna Sarr, Javi Martínez, Jerome Boateng and newcomer Josip Stasinic, was already completely atypical. Alphonso Davies on the left side was missing due to suspension, Lucas Hernández for a blow to the rib, but Benjamin Pavard and David Alaba were available and started the game on the bench, to enter the second half.
Forward Flick gave the first time to Kingsley Coman, who seemed to have muscular problems towards the end, and the second to Leroy Sané.
Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting, in the center of the attack due to Robert Lewandowski’s injury, left the field at 58, when the match was still 0-0. Other changes also suggested that Flick was thinking of reserving forces for Paris.
The game was difficult for Bayern from the start against the fierce Union defense. He had less arrival than usual but he went ahead with a goal from Jamal Musiala in 68 on a pass from Thomas Müller.
The Union draw came in 86, through Igvartsen, in a play that originated with a side kick that caught the Bayern defense badly.
Without a doubt, the draw is a setback for Bayern, but the five points they have over Leipzig should be a sufficient advantage, especially considering that the direct confrontation between the two is over.
The Union, with the tie, reaches 40 points with what mathematically ensures permanence, its goal of the season, although with the position it occupies, the seventh box, it can also think about Europe.
