One more. Gael Monfils announced that he will not be part of the ATP Masters 1000 in Monte-Carlo due to an injury that has been dragging and therefore his case is added to that of some other tennis players who had already communicated that they would not participate in the French competition, such as Dominic Thiem, among others.
World No. 13 said on his Twitter account: “Unfortunately I have to get off Monte-Carlo. I have been experiencing lower calf pain for the past ten days and I felt even worse in my last practice. “
Anyway, he remarked that remains positive and optimistic for the remainder of the season, which by the way is quite a lot. “I will start a specific treatment from today and will try to return as soon as possible,” he added.
It should be noted that Monfils has not been going through his best tennis moment: it has been more than a year since he won a game, since his last victory was in February 2020. To this, a new injury is added that will leave him out of an important tournament to add filming and confidence.
