Gennady Golovkin, middleweight champion by the FIB, is negotiating the unification in Japan of the 160-pound belts against Ryota murata, monarch of the AMB, according to a report by Chris mannix from Sports Illustrated.

This comes after Jaime Munguía express his desire to fight against the Kazakh and that after sitting down to talk, they will not reach any agreement. But different parties expressed that the desire remains for them to fight, although this report could make it difficult.
After falling against Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez in September 2018, Golovkin has fought against Steve Rolls, Sergiy Derevyanchenko Y Yamil Szeremeta, winning all of them. However, at 39 years old, he has not been seen with the level that he once had.
Murata, 35 years old and 16-2, became regular champion of the AMB in October 2017. This, after beating Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam in the rematch by stopping him in the seventh round. Then in January 2021, Murata was promoted to absolute champion by the AMB, without a fight in between, after the Canelo Alvarez vacate the title.
After that he fought four more times, winning three of them and losing one in October 2018 to Rob brant. However, in July 2019 he faced him again and knocked him out in the second round. In his last contest he defeated Steven Butler in December 2019 knocking him out in the fifth round.
