The WTA announces changes to its 2021 calendar

The WTA released the new schedule for this season outlining all tournaments from Wimbledon to the US Open. The provisional calendar also reflects some previous changes due to the coronavirus.

Many tournaments including two WTA 1000 events, one WTA 500, six WTA 250 tournaments, and tons of WTA 125 events.

The movements according to the week of the year:

-Week 20 (May 17): The tournament that was going to be played in Anning (China) moves to Belgrade.

-Week 21 (May 24): The WTA 250 from Strasbourg passes a week before to Roland Garros.

-Week 23 (June 7) – The Nottingham tournament is still not 100% sure that it will be played.

-Week 28 (July 12) – The WTA 250 Bucharest moves to Budapest, Hungary and the WTA 250 Prague instead of being played in May, will be played in July and changes from brick dust to hard court.

-Week 29 (July 19) – The Washington tournament goes to Gdynia (Poland) and changes from fast court to clay.

-Week 34 (August 23) – New category 250 hard court tournament to be played in Cleveland, Ohio.
