(EFE) — A double by Mason Greenwood and a goal by Edinson Cavani, gave Manchester United the 3-1 victory against Burnley, which cuts the disadvantage with Manchester City, leaders of the Premier, in the absence of six days to close the competition.
Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side suffered to overtake a rival who wants to avoid relegation. Sam Dyche’s team suffered their third defeat in a row at Old Trafford. Burnley marks the permanence, which resisted until the 85th minute.
The duel was uneven in the second part. Until then it was a Manchester United monologue but without any success to beat Bailey Peacock Farrell.
An action by Marcus Rashford, the most outstanding of his team, generated the first goal, culminated by Greenwood.
Burnley, who usually score points against rivals of substance and who beat United last season, tied two minutes later in a corner that James Tarkowski took advantage of to head and beat Dean Henderson, again a starter to the detriment of Spanish David de Gea.
Manchester United turned upside down. With Edinson Cavani, who replaced Fred at halftime, the harassment on the pitch was greater.
He took the lead again in the 85th minute, when Greenwood received a ball from Paul Pogba at the top of the area, carved a hole and fired into the net.
He sentenced in added time, in a counterattack led by Bruno Fernandes that found Donny Van de Beek. The Dutchman assisted Cavani, who beat Peacock-Farrell and rounded off United’s triumph.
The victory leaves Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s team eight points behind City’s lead.
