This Sunday the competition of Marc Márquez. The Spanish was out of the circuits for more than 200 days after a fall in the 2020 Spanish Grand Prix, when he fractured the humerus in his right arm. Three operations, an infection and nine months later, Márquez finished a career of MotoGP.
After the race, Márquez was received in the team’s box Repsol Honda. The applause and hugs occurred almost instantly in which the pilot got out of the RC213-V. These applause were not for the result. If not, the feat achieved by the eight-time champion was incredible. After nine months, Marc Márquez felt like a MotoGP rider again.
His inner circle was the one that was most attached to Márquez. The Spaniard had a dream weekend and before each outing on the track, this team that lives next to him applauded each lap he made at the Portimao circuit. Especially after the qualifying day that he had this Saturday. A sixth place that tasted like victory for the Honda rider.
The timing of the race was the best of the weekend for Márquez. The Spanish driver started sixth and in the first corner he placed in third place to dream of reaching the podium. However, the logical drop in rhythm due to his lack of continuity led him to finish in seventh place, which was more than expected for this weekend of return.
After 25 laps, Márquez finished seventh, managing to score points on his return to the top flight. However, the cry at the end when he reached his box was the most shocking image of the weekend. The champion is back and with the passing of the weekends he will find the expected rhythm to achieve a victory.
