Osasuna vs. Valencia - Game Report - April 21, 2021

(EFE) – Osasuna clearly surpassed a weak Valencia (3-1) to add the third consecutive victory and virtually certify the permanence in the First Division, with six days remaining, with 40 points in his locker.

From the beginning, the Navarrese team took possession of the ball against a Valencia that has not won away from Mestalla since last January 10, against Real Valladolid by 0-1.

Osasuna’s pressure paid off in the 13th minute. A horrible control by Musah after a long pass from Jaume facilitated the recovery of the rojillo team. Argentine Jonathan Calleri picked up the ball in front of the area, Diakhaby ignored Javi Martínez and the squad, alone, controlled the ball calmly before scoring his first goal in the First Division.

The Portuguese Gonçalo Guedes disturbed with a shot from afar that crashed into the right post of the goal defended by Sergio Herrera, but it was difficult for Valencia to create dangerous plays before the loss of Carlos Soler.

The game went through a scoring phase until the visitors put the equalizer. Guedes put a pass into the chopped hole for the French Kevin Gameiro to tie the duel with a powerful right hand in the 30th minute.

Valencia’s lack of defensive intensity led to a failure by captain Gayà in the pass. Javi Martínez controlled the ball to give the goal to Calleri, who scored the second local goal with a low shot hitting a post.

The good moment of the game that Osasuna is going through made the second half start as the first ended, with red dominance. In the 63rd minute, the VAR reviewed a penalty for a hand by Molina that went completely unnoticed and was finally whistled by Melero López.

Roberto Torres missed the maximum penalty, but a minute later Valencia returned to commit a penalty for a hand from Diakhaby. Roberto Torres launched it on the same side and scored in the League 16 days later.

The Valencia coach, Javi Gracia, put in offensive footballers to try to redirect the situation in the last leg of the game, but luck and lack of aim did not accompany his team.

With this victory, the Pamplona fans can be calm, because next season they will see their team again among the greatest after having a dream second round.
