The WTA announced that it will add two new tournaments to its 2021 calendar that will take place in Parma, Italy and Hamburg, Germany. Both competitions will be category 250 and will be held in May and July, respectively..
Steve Simon, President and CEO of the WTA, commented: “The WTA is committed to offering as many playing opportunities and earnings for our members as possible, and we look forward to bringing the WTA Tour to Parma and Hamburg this season, improving even more women’s tennis this year. “
The Emilia Romagna Open, to be held in Parma, is scheduled for the week of May 17 on the brick dust surface. It will have a singles box with 32 players and a doubles box with 16 pairs.
While Hamburg, a tournament scheduled to start on July 5 and which will coincide with the second week of Wimbledon, will have a singles main draw with 28 players and a doubles draw with 16 couples.
