Former player Robert Page will take the reins of the national team for the next European Championship
Ryan giggs was this Friday set aside as coach of the Wales national football team, after being formally accused of mistreating his ex-girlfriend and having attacked another woman.
The 47-year-old former Manchester United player will be tried next Wednesday for allegedly causing physical harm to Kate Greville, his then partner, last November.
The coach will also defend himself against the accusation of having attacked another woman during the same incident.
He also faces an additional charge for alleged coercive and controlling behavior between December 2017 and November 2020.
“I have complete respect for the legal process and understand the seriousness of the allegations. I am going to plead not guilty in court and hope to clear my name,” Giggs said in a statement.
The football federation of Welsh, for its part, notified that “the decision of the Prosecutor’s Office to file charges against Ryan Giggs, coach of the men’s national team has been recorded”, after which he has decided to remove him from the bench.
He is also a former player Robert Page, part of the team of coaches of the selection, will take the reins of the team for the next Eurocup, and will have Albert Stuivenberg as an assistant.
“I want to wish Robert Page, the coaching staff, the players and the fans every success this summer at the Euro,” said Giggs.
