This weekend the third date of the World Rally Championship. There, the french Sébastien Ogier he was left with the victory and a tremendous controversy. While he was traveling on a highway with his Toyota Yaris, collided with a tourist who was circulating. However, meters later he was detained by the police, although he did not pay attention and ended up fleeing.
Prior to each stage of a rally, the drivers must make the ‘link’, which connects the end of the previous stage with the one that starts. There the pilots must drive on highways and streets busy by citizens, respecting the traffic regulations imposed by the city they visit. Following the accident this weekend, Sébastien Ogier received an unusual fine of 7,000 Euros. However, the indignation of many was increased when it became known that those 7000, 5000 were due to the accident with the tourist. The remaining 2,000 euros were for having jumped a red light, minutes after the incident. On the other hand, Ogier was threatened with being sanctioned with a rally of absence if the situation is repeated.
Ogier released a statement after being involved in the accident with a tourist and apologized for the scandal. «I want to apologize and clarify the incident. Contrary to what some images suggest, we did stop with the police after our traffic accident. First we made sure that the other driver was not injured.
