George North tore cruciate ligament in knee and misses Lions tour

Ospreys confirmed on Wednesday that George North has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee. and will be discarded for the remainder of the season.

The Wales wing saw a specialist in London earlier this week and he will have surgery next week.

“Sport can be cruel. We all know the risks when we go out on the field. Unfortunately, I tore my ACL on Saturday and will need surgery next week. To say that my heart is broken is an understatement,” North wrote in his networks. The back will also miss the tour with the British & Irish Lions in South Africa.
