Matías Lammens, Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation, referred to the complex situation that exists with the pandemic and on football he remarked: “If we have to go towards a much stronger closure according to the decision made by the health authorities, football of course is going to be affected. Today we have no prospect of football being stopped. It is not the idea we have ”.
In the dialogue he held with Radio La Red, the former president of San Lorenzo said: “This is very dynamic, the next few hours will be defining but our idea is not to stop football, which has been complying with the protocols very well. If more restrictions are eventually to be imposed, soccer may be important for people to watch at home”He continued.
In addition, Lammens referred to the alleged intention of the Government of the province of Buenos Aires for football: “There was no official request. Stopping football is something more symbolic than anything else. A soccer game has very little movement in terms of the number of people in the stadium. I do understand that it is a symbolic matter that when everything stops, some want football to enter into that logic”.
At the end of the interview, the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Nation spoke about the Copa América that will be played in Argentina and Colombia and the chances of it being suspended: “We still don’t have time to say that, the President already said it. For us the Cup is important that it be played, we continue working for that. We hope that the health situation will improve considerably, for that all the measures are being taken now ”, replied Lammens.
