Sergey Kovalev vs. Canelo Álvarez

Eddy reynoso, coach of Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez, would like to see the Mexican boxer climb again to 175 pounds and face Artur Beterbiev, light heavyweight champion of the CMB Y FIB. This, if the Canelo manages to win all four 168-pound belts.

“I would like to look at 175 pounds, I like Beterbiev next year, let’s see what happens ”, he replied Reynoso in an interview with Fight Hub about what’s next for Canelo. “Yes, we are going to try to make history, keep walking, keep working and look for the challenges that interest us.”

Alvarez He already fought once in the light heavyweight division, when he faced Sergey Kovalev in November 2019, who was knocked out in the 11th round to remove the division belt from the OMB.

Canelo mentioned during the promotion of his fight against Avni Yildirim That moving up to the light heavy category was giving too much of an advantage, but lately it has opened the door to return to 175 pounds.

BeterbievFor his part, he is 36 years old and has a 16-0 record with all by way of knockout. His last fight was before Adam deines last March, whom he knocked out in the 10th round.

The judgment of the judges

With some judge cards in fights Canelo Alvarez that have caused controversy as against Floyd mayweather Y Gennady Golovkin, Eddy reynoso spoke of the words of Billy Joe Saunders in which he hinted corruption in boxing by the choice of judges.

“Lately there have been no bad decisions,” he considered Eddy. “The last bad qualification that I remember is that of Gallo Estrada vs Chocolatito, that a judge gave very loose scores to a boxer. Lately that type of bad novelty mistakes have been eradicated, I tell him, because in the nineties it was when that existed more ”.

“None of that, because the fights we have won have been forceful, we have been better and I think there will be no need this time, I think we are going to win by knockout,” he replied to the British.

It will be next May 8, in the AT&T Stadium, when Canelo unify the super medium belts of the WBO, WBA Y CMB against Saunders.
