But in the last hours the news has emerged that the Serbian is not present at the prestigious Spanish tournament due to family matters after he announced, after winning the Australian Open 2021, that he would prioritize spending more time with his family.
According Yahoo Australia, Djokovic will not be at the Madrid Open since, not being able to travel with his family due to the restrictions caused by the pandemic, he chose to stay with them. “Not being able to travel with my family is a big problem for me,” the Serbian had expressed.
Djokovic will reappear from May 8, when the Rome Masters 1000 where he will be the main favorite, and then return to his country to play the second edition of the Belgrade tournament, in which he lost in the semifinals against Aslan Karatsev on April 24.
