(EFE) – Lanús suffered in their stadium when they lost 2-1 with Gremio and thus the Brazilian team adds 6 points and took advantage on the second day as leader of Group H of the South American Cup, completed by La Equidad and Aragua.
Leo Pereira at 34 minutes and Ferreira at 86 sealed the second victory for the Porto Alegre team in the group stage.
Tomás Belmonte gave Lanús temporary hope with a goal in the 69th minute in the intense game played at the ‘La Fortaleza’ Stadium in the Buenos Aires town of Lanús.
The Colombians from La Equidad, who beat Aragua 2-1, have the same three points as Lanús, the third in the standings. Aragua changed its two starts for losses.
In this way, Gremio continues in a triumphal series both in the continental competition and in the gaucho tournament, where it will have to face the semifinals against Caixas.
Lanús, meanwhile, continues irregular because despite the victory against Aragua last week he has three defeats in a row in the domestic tournament and this Sunday he will have to face Boca Juniors.
The meeting was an intense process in the first half hour of play where there were many frictions and few options to open the score.
However, in the 34th minute the visit took advantage of a poor start by Garnet in the middle of the field and, in a perfect counterattack initiated by Ferreira at speed, he took the lead after a perfect pass for the definition of Leo Pereira.
Lanús was slow to react and after two clear options at the start of the second half, he reached a tie in the 69th minute with a loan from Pedro De la Vega for an accurate shot from Tomás Belmonte.
It seemed that the tie would be the final result of the match but with four minutes remaining, Ferreira once again put Gremio ahead, who took a valuable Buenos Aires victory for Porto Alegre.
On the third day of this Group H, next Thursday Gremio will be local to Aragua, while Lanús will visit La Equidad in Colombia.
