“We dreamed of the final of the Libertadores on the 200th anniversary of the meeting between the Liberators of America. We thank the FEF and the mayor’s office, it will be an unforgettable event for Guayaquil and the country,” added the president of Barcelona.
“We will work with great enthusiasm to try to be protagonists in the final of the Libertadores 2022. We want the same this season, we are fighting and first of the group, always with humility and work,” he concluded.
For his part, Egas said: “It is a historic day for the country, the FEF and the Banco Pichincha stadium. We salute the great fans of Barcelona SC, who are surely very happy with the news.”
“We are facing large Argentine and Brazilian stadiums, which were built for the World Cup. That enhances this achievement of the Banco Pichincha stadium, capable of competing with the best in South America,” he explained.
“We were aiming for the final of the Libertadores 2022 due to the meeting of Bolívar and San Martín 200 years ago in Guayaquil. At the current vaccination rate, I hope we can have a stadium full to the ceiling, as we like,” he closed.
