(EFE) – Libertad regained the leadership of Group F of the Copa Sudamericana this Thursday in Asunción with a solo goal by Sebastián Ferreira over Newell’s Old Boys, with the two teams pushing in a fast but sparing match on scoring occasions.
With the result, the Gumarelo led by Argentine Daniel Garnero dominates with nine points, one more than the Brazilian Atlético Goianiense, which the day before yielded a 0-0 draw at home to the Chilean Palestinian, already eliminated, while the Austral continue with four integers.
Ferreira’s early goal, crossing Alan Aguerre’s goal with a left foot after a great pass from Julio César Enciso, marked a first half that took place in a draw.
For its part, the Argentine team, from Rosario, led by Germán “Mono” Burgos “, made incursions with climbs by Alexis Rodríguez and the support of Julián Fernández.
Despite some disorder after Ferreira’s goal, Gumarelo was more incisive, especially when Enciso put together a couple of class attacks and locking up the visitors.
In the second stage, the visitors came out of their trench at the risk of being surprised by the dangerousness of Ferreira, who had the clearest chance of that start, brushing against Aguerre’s stick.
However, the Argentines gave serious warnings, mainly with Ignacio Scocco and Matías Orihuela.
Likewise, they did not get to build the goal formula, nor did Gumarelo in that stretch, although they proposed and sought with more conviction and game for victory.
At the end of the match, Gustavo Tejera sent off Luciano Cingolani with a double warning.
