The ATP 250 Belgrade has among the four best Alex Molcan (255º), a completely new face on the circuit. The 23-year-old Slovak debuted in January this year at the Antalaya Open, and in less than 6 months he already got into a semifinal of an ATP tournament.
After beating Pedja Krstin (285th) in the round of 16, and Fernando Verdasco (107th) in the quarterfinals, Molcan reached an unexpected instance without giving up sets (6-4, 6-1, 6-0, 6-0, 6-2, 6-0 in the week) for a professional who before arriving in Belgrade did not register victories in main tables of the ATP Tour.
The Slovakian won four Futures tournaments, and had reached the 2018 Seville Challenger final at just 18 years old.
In his first months of the ATP calendar, Molcan already beat players of the stature of Ernest Gulbis (185th), Blaz Kavcic (238th), Antoine Hoang (132nd), and the aforementioned Verdasco.
