Premiership: Gloucester vs. Bath suspended by Covid

Premiership Rugby confirmed that Gloucester Rugby’s game against Bath Rugby Rugby next weekend has been canceled.

Following a report of COVID-19 symptoms on Sunday morning, Gloucester Rugby made the decision to halt all team training after a COVID-19 outbreak was identified within the group. From this point on, the entire gaming department was ordered to isolate itself until further tests could be arranged.

In consultation with Public Health England, a round of drive-through PCR testing was conducted which returned a series of positive COVID-19 tests, including members of the playgroup and staff. The club is working closely with Public Health England and Premiership Rugby and continues to act on the advice given.

As a precautionary measure, and in the interest of the well-being of our staff, the Club has also made the decision to close the Kingsholm Stadium.

Taking into account the health of the players, staff and fans, Public Health England & Premiership Rugby have confirmed that it would not be safe to play the match on the weekend. Therefore, under Premiership Rugby regulations, the match between Gloucester Rugby and Bath Rugby will be canceled and a Premiership Rugby panel will be convened to determine the allocation of points. In the interest of privacy, Gloucester Rugby will not disclose the names of those affected.
