Pure history. The Azuleño Federico Delbonis (51st) defeated in an electrifying encounter to the Spanish Pablo Andújar (68 °), who came from giving the note and eliminating Austrian Dominic Thiem in the first round. In a vibrant and emotional game, the Argentine won 4-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 and 6-2 to advance to the third round at the French Open for the first time in his professional career.
Delbonis, the winner of two career ATP titles, reached this second round after beating Radu Albot (89th) at the start of the tournament. On the other hand, the Spanish arrived at this stage after having dispatched the No. 4 in the world, finalist of Roland Garros in 2018 and 2019, in five sets. The previous match record was 3-1 in favor of the 35-year-old European.

His rival in the next instance will be the Italian Fabio Fognini (29th), which comes from leaving Hungarian Marton Fucsovics (44th) on the road after beating him 7-6 (6), 6-1 and 6-2. It will be the eighth meeting between the two players, with an advantage of 5 to 2 for the European. The last match was precisely in the second round of Roland Garros 2019 with victory for the No. 29 in the ranking by 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 and 6-3.
