In the last hours it was confirmed that a new pilot will agree to fulfill one of his dreams: to be a pilot of MotoGP. The team KTM made the arrival of the Australian official Remy gardner, one of the animators of the championship of Moto2, and official pilot of Red Bull. Gardner is one of the stars who promise to go far in the category and his arrival at the top division was a total surprise.
Nobody expected that at this point in the season (there are only six dates), a team will already have a seat confirmed for the next championship. However, KTM was ahead of everyone and has already confirmed two riders: Gardner, who will arrive at MotoGP after this season and Brad binder, which renewed its contract with the Austrian factory, making use of a clause in its contract.
Binder will continue with the official KTM team, while Gardner will make his MotoGP debut with the KTM TECH3 Racing, the brand’s satellite team. Gardner is the son of Wayne gardner, ex-MotoGP rider and 500cc World Champion in 1987. His son Remy will seek to match his father’s feat, hand in hand with one of the rising teams in the paddock.
Gardner’s teammate is yet to be confirmed. Currently Danilo Petrucci and Iker Lecuona are the TECH3 drivers, but neither renewed their contract with the team. It should be clarified that the team had the option to renew the contract of both this Monday immediately, but this option was not used, which raises doubts in the environment of the pilots.
“I am very happy that KTM has given me this opportunity. It is a dream come true for me and what we have worked for up to now. It’s an incredible opportunity for me and I can’t wait to get on the bike. I just want to thank KTM for believing in me. Right now, we need to focus on ending 2021 in a strong way, ‘said the Australian.
