The wing Mateo Carreras will remain linked to Newcastle Falcons for one more season after signing a new contract with the Premiership club.
The 21-year-old Argentine international has made four appearances for the Falcons. Rugby director Dean Richards welcomed the news of the Carreras renewal and said: “Mateo is a young player with great potential.
“He has outstanding footwork and rhythm, and for a relatively small boy, he hits incredibly hard.”
“Obviously it is well documented that he has been serving a suspension in recent months, so he has apologized and will learn, and we can’t wait to see him back on the field showing his rugby prowess.”
Waiting for the prospect of another season on Tyneside, former Argentine M20 international said: “I am very happy to extend my contract with Newcastle. I think we can do a lot of good things next season.
“We have an excellent staff of coaches and players, and I am really motivated for next year.”
The Falcons are next in action when they host the Worcester Warriors on Saturday, in their last home game of the Premiership season.
