La Paz (EFE) – With two goals from Marcelo Martins Moreno and Diego Bejarano, Bolivia beat Venezuela 3-1 this Thursday at the Hernando Siles stadium, in La Paz, for the seventh day of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers .
Martins Moreno, the Green striker and Cruzeiro forward, led the way to victory in the 5th minute with a precise low shot from the lower left corner.
But the Italian Brescia defender Jhon Chancellor equalized for Vinotinto by taking advantage of a rebound in the area in the 26th minute and put it 1-1 in the goal defended by Carlos Lampe.
Bolivia, who needed the victory to climb the classification and give oxygen to their coach, the Venezuelan César Farías, insisted and showed more dominance than his rival and went up with Bejarano’s goal at 60.
The local Bolívar midfielder reached a center and did not forgive with an accurate header that struck down the Venezuelan goalkeeper Joel Graterol who could not avoid the 2-1.
The finishing touch was given by Martins Moreno, who scored his double in the 83rd minute, after receiving a center pumped into the Bejarano area, to convert the final 3-1 with a header near the left post.
In ten games between Bolivia and Venezuela for World Cup qualifiers in La Paz, La Verde has won eight, and tied and lost one.
With the victory, the Bolivian team accumulates four points, while Venezuela, led by the Portuguese José Peseiro, stagnates with three.
On Tuesday, in the eighth day of the South American qualifiers, Bolivia will visit Chile and Venezuela will host Uruguay.
