A few days before the start of the Copa América, the CONMEBOL confirmed the calendar and the venues of the tournament that was originally going to be played in Argentina and Colombia, but it will finally be in Brazil and the Argentine National Team already knows where and when it will play.
The change of the organizing country was made official just 14 days before the start of the selection contest, after the hosts had to resign due to social problems, in the case of Colombia, and the critical moment of the Covid pandemic for Argentina.
The Argentine National Team will debut on Monday, June 14, at 6:00 p.m. against Chile, at the Nilton Santos stadium, home of Botafogo in Rio de Janeiro.
The next two games in Group A, Lionel Scaloni’s team will play at the Mané Garrincha stadium, which the local team usually uses as a stage, in the capital Brasilia. The first match there will be on Friday the 18th, at 9:00 p.m., against Uruguay. And on Monday 21, at 9:00 p.m., against Paraguay.
Argentina will close the group stage at Arena Pantanal, in Cuiabá, on June 28 at 8:00 p.m. against Bolivia.
Meanwhile, the quarterfinals will be played in Rio de Janeiro, Goiania and Brasilia between July 2 and 3. On July 5 and 6 will be the semifinals in Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, which will also host the match for third place on July 9.
And the grand final will be on July 10 at the legendary Maracana stadium on July 10.
