Roger Federer’s victory (8th) over Dominik Koepfer (59th) was a true marathon for the Swiss. Following his return to the courts in Doha, the Basel native struggled for just over three and a half hours and suffered real wear and tear in what was the longest match since his return.
“We go through these games, we analyze them carefully and we look at what follows and we will do the same tonight and tomorrow at the latest, because I need to decide if I keep playing or not, or if it is not too risky at the moment to keep pushing or if it is just a perfect way to just take a break “ said the Swiss emphatically in a press conference after the match against Koepfer.
In this way Federer questioned his continuity in the tournament since after Roland Garros the turf tour will come, the most important for him.
“There’s a lot going on, but having a match like this, knowing that I could probably have played a fifth set but not knowing how I’ll wake up tomorrow is interesting, to say the least. Yeah, it’s definitely a different time right now for me.” Federer concluded.
