The Colombian midfielder, Wilmar Barrios, spoke at a press conference and analyzed Argentina, the Tricolor’s next rival in the CONMEBOL Qualifiers. The Zenit player talked about how to mark Messi and highlighted the work of his compatriot Gustavo Cuéllar in the game against Peru.
The rival’s analysis: “It is a team that comes in handy, we know important cards that can be presented to us at home, we know the conditions and quality of players they have on the squad, so the first thing we have to do is know how to approach ourselves from start to finish and from what a way to try to cover and block spaces and passes between the lines that they always try to do ”.
Can you see Wilmar Barrios playing against Argentina ?: “The teacher knows how to move his chips very well, I think we are all here to give 100% if the teacher needs any of us, the important thing here is always the National Team (…) Each one of us is preparing and is mentally prepared for the game against Argentina (…) The most important thing is that whoever gets to do it can do it in the best way and whoever doesn’t, can be supporting from the outside ”.
Your opinion of Cuéllar’s performance: “We are all trained to play, I am happy with how the team worked against Peru, it was very important and gives us confidence to continue preparing for the game against Argentina. What happened to Cuéllar was excellent, as a group we are happy when a player of that quality represents us in that way, we are all available to the teacher ”.
How to mark Messi ?: “As long as we are close, intermixed, being a short team and not giving many spaces, I think it will get complicated, it is not just doing the individual, beyond all that is the collective (…) You have to be careful with all of Argentina beyond all the quality that Messi has, he has very important players that can unbalance the game”.
