A day like today, but in 1993, the Croatian guard Drazen Petrovic lost his life in a traffic accident in Germany. He was just 28 years old.
Petrovic, who played in the NBA with the Portland Trail-Blazers and New Jersey Nets, was traveling with his partner and another person to Croatia, after playing a game with his National Team. The accident occurred between Nuremberg and Munich. The two women survived.

In his final season with the Nets, the Croat averaged 22.3 points and 3.5 assists with a .449 percentage from triple.
Prior to his NBA debut in the 1989-90 campaign, Petrovic had already won at club level with him. Cibona Zagreb two European Cups, one league and three Yugoslav cups. Then he militated with Real Madrid, with whom he arranged a King’s Cup and a European Cup Winners’ Cup.
At the national level, he obtained two silver medals with Croatia in the Olympic Games and another bronze with Yugoslavia. In addition, he achieved a gold medal and a bronze medal at the World Championships.
He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2002.
