The Uruguayan tennis player beat Italian Andrea Pellegrino in the quarterfinals 6-3, 7-5 in an hour 23 with a couple of breaks in key moments of the game. While Facundo Bagnis defeated Cedrik-Marcel Stebe (Tomás Etcheverry’s executioner in the round of 16) with partials of 6-3 and 7-6 (5).
Cuevas will try to assert his favoritism in the brick dust of Lyon to win the title, after making the semifinals in Geneva, eighth in Belgrade and second round at Roland Garros, where he fell to Serbian and world number one Noval Djokovic.
In the history between the two there is a resounding 5-0 for the Uruguayan although the faces have not been seen since Córdoba 2019.
