Stefanos Tsitsipas (5th) beat Alexander Zverev (6th) 6-3, 6-3, 4-6, 4-6 and 6-3 at Roland Garros and agreed, for the first time in his career, to a final of a Grand Slam trophy.
The Greek started the game in a great way, taking the first two sets with relative comfort. The key to those moments was how to counteract the German’s serve and break it (he did it once in the first set and three times in the second) in order to make a difference.
The next two sleeves were the flip side for Tsitsipas. The Greek was seen more tense and nervous which made Zverev grow with his tennis and could match the actions.
In the defining round, Zverev managed to lift four match points, but the Greek showed the level of his first two sets and the German could do nothing against him. Victory accomplished, Tsitsipas became the first Greek-born player to reach a Grand Slam trophy final and the youngest to do so since Andy Murray in 2010.
