Finland returned to action after the incident they had in the game against Denmark, where Christian Eriksen collapsed
The Finnish footballers came out today to warm up at the Krestovski Stadium with shirts in which they wish a speedy recovery to the Danish Christian Eriksen, who suffered a faint in the match that both teams played last Saturday.
“That you recover, Christian“(Get well Christian), read the shirt worn by the players of the Scandinavian team.
The players and the Finnish coach, Markku Kanerva, have acknowledged that it is being very difficult to focus on football after what happened in Copenhagen.
“It is not easy to focus on soccer when more important things are at stake“, Canerva said at a press conference.
Eriksen, who is still hospitalized, said he was “fine” despite the circumstances, and was very grateful for the displays of support and affection.
Finland defeated Denmark (1-0), while Russia fell to Belgium (0-3) on matchday one, making today’s game decisive for the Slavic team.
