Belgium smiled devilishly at a Denmark who played with their heart. The Red Devils did the devilish and prevailed 2-1 with a sublime performance from Kevin de Bruyne, who influenced both goals. Despite the efforts of the Danes, football did not reach them and they have one day left to seek qualification for the next phase of the European Championship.
The start of the match was turbulent for the Belgians. An error by Jason Denayer condemned his team for the time being, and it is that the bad start of the defender led to a goal by Yussuf Poulsen with a tribute to Christian Eriksen. The goal was the second fastest in the history of the European Championship.
The game opened and Denmark had the opportunity to take advantage of the uncertain minutes of the Belgians, but they did not know how to take advantage of the mood. Funny thing, the Belgians have never been so easily outmatched. They were taken by surprise, the only thing that did not surprise was the tribute to Eriksen at minute 10. The stadium was filled with applause in his honor.
The first half passed with the superiority of the Nordics, but little clarity. It was for the complement when Belgium adjusted and Roberto Martínez entered Kevin De Bruyne. The midfielder has not been at one hundred percent after the UEFA Champions League final, but is slowly returning to action.
De Bruyne changed the face of the game. A play that Romelu Lukaku started was almost crowned by the midfielder, since with a feint in the area he took off two sweeps and left another man in the way. The cherry was the pass to the center where Thorgan Hazard pushed the ball to tie.
Minutes later, Lukaku himself did not give a lost ball and after fighting hard and removing two markers, a play began where Eden Hazard left for De Bruyne who entered the area alone and sealed the comeback with his left leg.
Although at the end of the game Belgium recoiled and gave the ball, the great heart of the Danes was not enough for the good football that Belgium remembered in the complement. Even Martin Braithwaite put a ball on the crossbar and the tie was drowned in Copenhagen.
In spite of everything, the Red Devils are almost on the other side in the continental tournament and only a miracle would take away the first position. Belgium will face Finland, while Denmark will face Russia on the last date of group B.
