NBA reacts to Hawks' incredible return in Game 5

With 2:10 remaining in the third quarter, the Philadelphia 76ers were up 24 points over the Atlanta Hawks. According to ESPN Stats & Info, the Sixers had a 99.7% chance of winning the pivotal Game 5. And then the Hawks silenced their opponent.

Atlanta edged Philadelphia 40-19 in the final draw, including eliminating a 14-point deficit with just six minutes to complete comeback and a 109-106 victory on Wednesday night. Trae Young, who scored 25 of his 39 points, put the Hawks ahead late by making a 3-point foul on Matisse Thybulle and making all three free throws.

In a terrible second half, the Sixers just couldn’t score. Joel Embiid and Seth Curry were the only Sixers to make a field goal in the final two quarters (38 total), as the rest of the team hit 0 of 11 shots from the field for just six points.

When the collapse happened, the NBA world took to Twitter to share their views on the collapse of Philadelphia and the perseverance of Atlanta.
