Treason? The viral photo that generates «controversy» between Mercedes and Red Bull

Lewis Hamilton

In the last hours social networks echoed a particular photo that involves nothing more and nothing less than Toto Wolff, team leader Mercedes. The Austrian, who was a pilot in his days outside the Formula 1, was involved in a “Controversy”. In one photo he can be seen running for a team sponsored by Red bull, his greatest rival this season.

Social networks are sometimes very cruel. However, this time it provoked several laughs after a photo of Toto Wolff, running ‘for Red Bull’ went viral. The boss of the German team is on a podium in 2003, when he was racing for touring car categories. “Not even Judas was so treacherous,” says the user who shared the photo.

Wolff has his racing past as a driver. In 1992 he participated in the Austrian Championship of Formula Ford, and then move to the same category but in Germany. As a most remarkable result, he managed to win the 24 Hours of Nürburgring. In 2002 he was sixth in the World Cup NGT and in 2003 (where the photo is seen) he won in the series FIA GT / GT1. After testing in different categories, Wolff went on to command Mercedes in Formula 1.

Red Bull-Mercedes

The Red Bull team and Mercedes are the great rivals of the season. This season the victories were distributed, and they fight stick by stick for the top of the constructors’ championship. From the hand of Max verstappen and Sergio Pérez, the energy drinks team was able to take a considerable advantage over Mercedes, which will seek to strike this Sunday.

For its part, the German team must improve its performance. In the last race in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Mercedes finished without points for the first time since 2018 Austrian Grand Prix. That is why the brand will have a lot of work ahead of it if it wants to fight for the high places again in this Sunday’s race in Paul Ricard.
