PHOENIX – The LA Clippers will face Game 5 of the Western Conference finals against the Phoenix Suns without their pivot, Bosnian Ivica Zubac, who was ruled out due to a sprained right medial collateral ligament.
Zubac, who suffered the injury in Game 4, had been placed as questionable on the disabled list prior to Monday’s game.
The Bosnian had become a critical situation player for the Clippers on Deandre Ayton’s mark in the conference finals. Zubac had three consecutive double-doubles, including 15 points and 16 rebounds in the Clippers ‘106-92 victory in Game 3. He had 13 points and 14 rebounds in 40 minutes in Los Angeles’ 84-80 loss to the Suns in Game 4.
Without Zubac, coach Ty Lue said he expects DeMarcus Cousins to play several minutes and be required on offense.
Lue also noted that while the Clippers were encouraged to turn a 3-1 deficit in the series, the team suffered Zubac’s injury absence.
