Kevon Looney is exercising his $ 5.1 million option to return to the Golden State Warriors next season, his agent Todd Ramasar told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 6-foot-9-inch (2.06-meter) big man signed a three-year, $ 15 million contract with the team before the 2019-20 season.
Golden State chose Looney with the 30th pick in the 2015 draft after the team won the first of its three recent titles.
With career averages of 4.3 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, Looney doesn’t fill the high-octane Warriors stat sheet, but he has been a key cog for Golden State’s championship races in 2017 and 2018.
This season, the 25-year-old Looney started 34 of 61 games while sharing time in the starting lineup with rookie James Wiseman.
