María Camila Osorio made history at Wimbledon

The start had her on the ropes, 1-4 and medical assistance for back pain, but it takes more than that to knock down Maria Camila Osorio (94 °), who recovered and turned a great match against the Russian Ekaterina Aleksandrova (36th) with a result of 7-5 and 6-2, to advance to the third round of Wimbledon.

The Colombian disputes the main draw of the tournament for the first time in her career, and fate will put her to the test against the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (4th), a candidate to stay with the first place in the WTA ranking at the end of the British Grand Slam.

Not only did Osorio reach the third round of an open for the first time in her career, she also became the first from her country to win two main-draw matches at Wimbledon., the best Colombian antecedent in the women’s circuit was Isabel Fernández de Soto, who had already reached the third round, although with a reduced table in which she only played one match to reach that stage.
