Rafa Benítez is James and Mina's new coach at Everton

Spanish Rafa Benítez was confirmed by Everton as the new coach for next season. Already directed to James Rodriguez on Real Madrid in a relationship marked by tension.

The English team announced that the 61-year-old coach will replace Carlo Ancelotti. He will face a week of returning to training and in a hostile climate from a sector of the fans, against the decision due to his past as coach of Liverpool.

He signed for three years and will have as his main challenge the classification of Everton to the European cups. With the Italian he fought until the last dates for that possibility. However, the local campaign frustrated everything. He finished in 10th place with 59 points.

Benítez already directed James in 2015. He did it for six months at Real Madrid during 18 league games, six in the UEFA Champions League and one in the Copa del Rey. The relationship was conflictive from the beginning. The Colombian lost ownership, the team did not perform, the public disapproved of the performance and President Florentino Pérez fired him at the beginning of 2016. Instead, he appointed Zinedine Zidane.

Everton will advance part of its preseason in the United States. He will face Colombian runner-up Millonarios for the Florida Cup on July 25 in Orlando.

In the Premier League will debut on August 14 before Southampton at Goodison Park.
