The Atlanta Hawks ruled out their star point guard Trae Young for Game 5 of the Eastern Final.
This was reported by ESPN’s Malika Andrews on her Twitter account.
Young will continue to rehab in hopes of playing Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals Saturday in Atlanta.
The point guard was also ruled out for games four and five due to a deep bruise on his right foot, the team announced.
Despite Young exhausting all avenues to find a way to play again, poor mobility and significant pain in his right foot have made it impossible for him.
With 36 seconds remaining in the third quarter of Game 3 on Sunday, Young inadvertently stepped on referee Sean Wright’s right foot. Young returned to the locker room briefly before returning to the game with just under nine minutes to go.
Young, who had 32 points during the first three quarters of Sunday’s game, wasn’t nearly as explosive when he returned to the floor. An MRI on Monday revealed the bone bruise.
Likewise, coax Nate McMillan confirmed that Clint Capela will start on Thursday.
