Marcelo Gallardo accepted on ESPN F90 that he received offers from Europe in these seven years, but assured that he rejected them because his “commitment was always with River.”
Without making direct reference to whether he had an offer from Barcelona, the millionaire coach revealed in a heads up with the show ESPN: “I have had offers from clubs in Europe in all these years. I will not say what they were, but although it arouses interest and curiosity I believed that my commitment was always with River and it will be until the day my contract ends. It is my way to return so much gratitude, to respect my bond with this institution “.
And as a result of this, Gallardo also clarified that that is why he never defines his automatic contract renewal with River, if not that he needs to think it over and explained: “Every year end it took me a while. I have my emotional imbalances. There are things to ponder, this needs maximum attention, energy and responsibility. I could say ‘I can stay and live here’, because I have the gratitude of the people, because I have the recognition of the players or the manager, but if I do not feel that I have that energy to respond to him and I do not feel that responsibility to go down a message and that my actions were not my essence as a person and a coach, I could not. So he always gave me a little more time to reflect on that. “
Marcelo Gallardo’s current contract ends in December of this year, together with the mandate of Rodolfo D’Onofrio as president of the Núñez institution.
