Mateo Carreras could join the staff of The Pumas for engagements before Wales in this July window. The Newcastle Falcons wing would arrive to replace Emiliano Boffelli, who was disaffected by a (reduced) pubalgia that he suffered in training prior to the cross against Romania and that left him out of the game in Bucharest.
Mario Ledesma would have chosen Mateo Carreras to be able to complete his squad again. The resignation of Boffelli, who was to start in the first match against Romania, was announced the day before the debut and he seems to already have a replacement. The wing of Newcastle Falcons would travel tomorrow and could be available for the first of two matches against Wales.
If he joined, this would be the first experience with Los Pumas for the player who emerged in Los Tarcos. Carreras, only 21 years old, had appearances in two youth World Cups and one World Cup with Pumas 7’s. In what was his first season in European rugby, the wing played five games for the Newcastle Falcons, four of them as a starter.
