Mateo Carreras joins the staff of The Pumas for engagements before Wales in this July window. The Newcastle Falcons wing arrives to replace Emiliano Boffelli, who was disaffected by an injury, which he suffered in training prior to the cross against Romania, and which left him out of the rest of the selected tour.
Mario Ledesma chose Mateo Carreras to be able to complete his roster again. The resignation of Boffelli, who was to start in the first match against Romania, was announced the day before the debut and he already has a replacement. The wing of Newcastle Falcons may be available for the first of the two matches against Wales.
This will be the first experience with Los Pumas for the player who emerged in Los Tarcos. Mateo Carreras, only 21 years old, had appearances in two youth World Cups and one World Cup with Pumas 7’s. In what was his first season in European rugby, the wing played five games in Newcastle Falcons, four of them as a starter, and has already won the affection of the fans, so much so that he renewed the contract with the institution.
