It was at the end of January of this year when the AMB announced that he would remove his belt, which he won by defeating Keith thurman in July 2020 by split decision.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Pacquiao stayed away from the ring to help Philippines as senator.
During all this time he held talks with Ryan Garcia, Mikey Garcia Y Terence crawford, but in the end he leaned for Spence as his next rival.
Errol, who is 27-0 with 21 knockouts, is champion for the FIB Y CMB at 147 pounds, and is coming off three major victories against big name rivals like Mikey Garcia, Shawn Porter Y Danny Garcia.
In this way, in case the AMB decide to reinstall as champion Pacquiao, three of the four belts of the welterweight division would be put into play.
The only championship that would be missing would be that of the OMB, who belongs to Terence crawford.
