RÍO DE JANEIRO (EFE) – Brazil, the great favorite and host of the 47th edition of the Copa América, beat Peru 1-0 on Monday at the Nilton Santos stadium in Rio de Janeiro, and qualified, hand in hand from his great figure, Neymar, to the final of the oldest national team tournament in the world.
The meeting between Canarinha and Blanquirroja showed Peru defenseless and without attack in the first half against the Brazilian power that arrived in danger on several occasions in which goalkeeper Pedro Gallese was established as a figure.
The clearest option of those led by Adenor Leonardo Bacchi ‘Tite’ was a double shot in the small area that Gallese knew how to reject in an almost miraculous way.
But there were no miracles for the entire match and in the 34th minute Lucas Paquetá scored after a great play by Neymar, who made the pass to break down the resistance of Ricardo Gareca’s men.
For the second half, Peru came out with more courage and had more arrivals at the feet of Gianuca Lapadula, Renato Tapia and Yoshimar Yotún, but a Brazil that played at half machine did not feel danger in the goal defended by Éderson.
The game was diluted in the Peruvian efforts to show something more than what was exhibited in the first half, where it was fearful and did not attack Brazil, until the final whistle of referee Roberto Tobar.
Brazil will face in the Maracana, next Saturday, the winner of the match between Argentina and Colombia that will be played this nartes at the Mané Garrincha stadium in Brasilia.
